Welcome to Top Hiking Camping Gear. By accessing or using this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
About This Site
Top Hiking Camping Gear publishes reviews, comparisons and how-to guides on the gear everyday hikers and weekend campers actually use: tents, sleeping pads, headlamps, hydration packs and camp stoves. Everything here is written for people who want a good night outside without buying expedition kit they will never need.

Outdoor Safety
Hiking and camping carry real risks, and no piece of gear removes them. Weather can turn fast, so check the forecast, tell someone your route and your return time, and turn around when conditions change. Heat illness and dehydration can come on quickly on a hot trail: carry enough water, rest in the shade, and get medical help for confusion, fainting or a headache that will not ease.
Never run a propane stove, heater or lantern inside a tent, vehicle or closed shelter. Carbon monoxide has no smell and can kill. Set stoves on a stable, level surface away from tent fabric and anything that burns, check hose connections for leaks, and shut the tank off when you finish. Burn bans and fire rules vary by park and by day, so ask the campground or land manager what is allowed before you light anything, including a stove.
A tent is not shelter from lightning or falling limbs, so check overhead before you pitch and move to a hard-sided vehicle or building in a storm. Store food away from your tent as local rules direct. Treat any water from a natural source before drinking. Information on this site is general and is not medical or safety advice for your situation. Follow every manufacturer's instructions and all park rules.
